As young people approach the end of Key Stage 4, it is natural for families to begin thinking about the future.
For many parents, this can feel exciting and daunting in equal measure.
At Coombe House, our Post-16 provision exists to help young people prepare confidently for the next stage of their journey.
Many pupils joining Coombe House have experienced disrupted education, missed learning opportunities or periods when accessing education has been difficult. For some young people, additional time can make a significant difference.
Our Post-16 provision often enables pupils to:
Our aim is not simply to keep young people at Coombe House for longer.
Our aim is to help them move successfully beyond Coombe House.
For many pupils, this means progressing to mainstream or specialist college. For others, it may involve training, employment or alternative pathways that align with their aspirations and needs.
Success is not measured by how long a young person stays but by how ready they are for what comes next.
We understand that some families may worry that requiring additional time after 16 means a young person has fallen behind but we do not see it that way.
Every young person develops at their own pace and follows their own journey.
The additional time available through Post-16 can provide the opportunity to secure qualifications, develop confidence and build the skills needed to access future opportunities successfully.
When young people leave our Post-16 provision, we want them to have more than qualifications.
We want them to have the confidence, independence and social skills needed to thrive in their chosen environment.
Above all, we want families to feel optimistic about the future and confident that their young person is ready for the opportunities that lie ahead.
